Abstract

Collection is comprised of blackjack odds analyzing and strategy software manuals and software created primarily by Real World Casino and Stanford Wong (pen name of gambling author, John Ferguson) from approximately 1992 to 1996. The manuals and software in this collection are intended primarily for expert blackjack players to analyze real world effects of the game and to allow users to generate strategies for a specific game.

Oral history interview with Muriel Euchner conducted by A. D. Hopkins on December 26, 1980 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Euchner discusses what it’s like being part of the “lost generation” of Tonopah, Nevada and her life as child there in the early 1900s.

Unit 2 tower producing electricity by concentrated solar thermal technology. Water is superheated in a boiler at the top of the tower, which creates steam to drive steam turbines, which in turn generate electricity.

Description

From the Morgan Sweeney Photograph Collection (PH-00228). The powerhouse is the U-shaped structure at the toe of the dam. As the river is the state line, the left wing of the powerhouse (containing 8 generating units) is in Nevada, while the right wing of the powerhouse (containing 9 generating units) is in Arizona. The central section of the powerplant houses control rooms, work shops, and offices. The reservoir above the dam is named Lake Mead.

Digital images include photographs (approximately 1920-1990) of early landscape views of Jarbidge and surrounding areas, Williams family photographs (spanning four generations in Jarbidge), as well as photographs depicting Jarbidge residents including Robert Knight and Bill Joyal. Also included are report cards, certificates for completion of various courses for Nevada Justices of the Peace, John Williams' application for Jarbidge postmaster, newspaper articles on John Williams, and some general news clippings on Jarbidge.
