Abstract

The Fercos Family Publicity Collection (approximately 1978-1989) contains newspaper articles, advertisements, and a poster promoting the Flying Fercos, a family of juggling and acrobatic performers who performed in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Dunes Hotel during the 1970s and 1980s. The materials document the Fercos family's act as part of producer Frederic Apcar's shows such as Casino de Paris and Hot Shock.

Abstract

The Blackstone Edge Studios Collection (1974, 1980-1985) contains one 16mm film of locations around Las Vegas, Nevada produced by Blackstone Edge Studios. Footage was filmed by Philip Clayton-Thompson who is a co-owner, director, and producer for Blackstone Edge Studios. Also included are photographic transparencies and prints of the Primadonna Monorail, constructed by VSL Corporation at the Primadonna Hotel and Casino in Stateline (now Primm), Nevada.

The Harold Hind Photograph Collection (approximately 1942-1960) contains black-and-white photographic prints with corresponding negatives. The images predominately depict groups of people including Harold Hind and his wife Betty Biggs Hind. The majority are ‘souvenir’ photographs, primarily from the Hotel Last Frontier and the El Rancho Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Reno Gay Rodeo Collection

Abstract

The Reno Gay Rodeo Collection comprises organizational records collected by Dennis McBride that document the National Reno Gay Rodeo from 1977 to 1988. It includes newspaper clippings, notes, and ephemera, as well as legal documentation from two lawsuits fought unsuccessfully in 1988 to retain the Reno rodeo. The two lawsuits were the Silver State Gay Rodeo Association vs Lawlor Events Center (1988), and the Lantry, et. al. vs Third Judicial District Court, NV (Nevada Supreme Court dismissal, 1988).

Abstract

The Jamey Stillings Photograph Collection (2009-2019) is primarily comprised of photographs taken by professional photographer, Jamey Stillings, of the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and the Hoover Dam project, the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System project, and the Crescent Dunes Solar project. The Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and the Hoover Dam project depict the construction of the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge from 2009 to 2012. The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System project depict aerial views of Ivanpah Solar in the Mojave Desert of California from 2010 to 2014. The Crescent Dunes Solar project consists of a range of aerial and ground-based work documenting SolarReserve's Crescent Dunes Solar, a 110MW concentrated solar plant with molten salt storage near Tonopah, Nevada, from 2014 to 2015.

The photographs also depict events and people in Tonopah and Goldfield, including parades, celebrations, banquets, children, Native Americans, and prominent buildings.

The Frances Intravia Photograph Collection (approximately 1948 to 1979) contains three black-and-white photographic prints. The images depict Albert and Arabell Lee Hafner, author of 100 Years on the Muddy, visiting the St. Thomas, Nevada townsite after the Lake Mead water levels dropped enough make it visible. One of the prints is an original from approximately 1948 to 1952, and the other two are reproductions of images taken during the same period.
