This individual grew up in Lincoln County in Alamo, Nevada. From 1981-1984 he was the North Las Vegas City Councilman and from 1984-1996, he was the Clark County Commissioner. He did alot of work with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while creating a successful career in local politics.
Edith Block was born on June 15, 1924 in East Chicago, Indiana. She married Arthur Block in 1946. They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1968. She worked at First National Bank and was very involved in her church community.
Elsie Elvina Jorgensen was born on November 7, 1897 in Utah. She later married John Edgar Whipple on April 4, 1935. The Whipples were active members of the Mormon Church. Elsie passed away on March 30, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Clinton Wright Photographs (1964-2018) contains black-and-white photographic negatives of various sizes, dating from 1964 to 1971. The images document the Black experience in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1960s and 1970s, and capture scenes of everyday life in the historic Black neighborhood known as the Westside, social events such as weddings and parties, and events hosted by local churches. The collection also contains a photograph of Clinton Wright from 2017 when he visited the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Special Collections and Archives, and a memorial program for his wife, Joyce Wright, who passed away in 2018.
