Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: Snick's Place was a queer bar which stood at 1402 South Third Street [1976-2014] whose mascots were two pink elephants, celebrated in a painting which hung in the bar from 1992 until it was remodeled and renamed the Bastille in 2014. Bar owner Dominick Vitale donated the elephant painting to the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas. This series of photos documents removing the painting from the bar for delivery to the Nevada State Museum. Individuals identified by the donor, Dennis McBride: two unidentified movers

From the Dennis McBride Photograph Collection (PH-00263) -- LGBTQ+ events and organizations in Las Vegas, Nevada -- Digital images file. Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: This is a photograph of the exterior of Snick's Place queer bar shortly after it opened in 1976. The automobile belongs to owner Ralph Vandersnick for whom the bar was named. At the time the bar opened, its address was 1402 South Fourth Street. The address was changed in the 1990s after substantial road work in the area eliminated Fourth Street at this location.

Description

HUGHES' GIANT PLANE GETS FLAPS This 74-foot wing-flap for the world's largest airplane, built by Howard Hughes, is almost as long as the wing of a standard 21-passenger airliner. The flap, one of two which will be installed in the 320-foot wing of the giant flying boat, is en route from the Hughes Aircraft plant at Culver City, California, to Los Angeles Harbor where the plane is being assembled. The hull of the $20,000,000 airplane, also known as the Flying Boat or Spruce Goose, being transferred from Culver City to Terminal Island in the Los Angeles Harbor. The Flying Boat was moved to Terminal Island's graving dock where construction was completed in June of 1947.
