New York City-- The Press Headquarters set up under a huge tent at Floyd Bennett Field by the New York World's Fair for the use of newspapermen "covering" the landing of Howard Hughes and his crew after their record-smashing flight around the world. Typed onto a piece of paper attached to the image: "Howard Hughes at the microphone, during his brief address at Official Municipal welcoming ceremonies in the Council Chamber at City Hall. In his speech, Hughes disclaimed credit for the flight and heaped praise on the "men who designed and perfected to its present remarkable state of efficiency, the modern American flying machine and equipment." New York, New York."

Description printed on photograph's accompanying sheet of paper: "Journey's end for world fliers! Floyd Bennett Airport, N.Y.--- The plane which carried Howard Hughes and four companions on their dramatic dash around the world, is shown shortly after it landed here at the conclusion of the flight. Crowds swarmed about the craft as the fliers hesitantly prepared to leave the ship. 7/14/1938."
