First State Bank, located on the northeast corner of First and Fremont Streets, was the first two-story structure in Clark's Las Vegas Townsite. Rooms upstairs were occupied by the Masonic Lodge.

Smith was born in Las Vegas in 1927 and lived at 624 South 6th Street. Sixty-four railroad cottages were built by the Las Vegas Land and Water Company for employees of the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad.
