Providing security and access to both automobile and pedestrian traffic is handled differently along Las Vegas Boulevard and has changed over the years on the Strip. Here a small, elevated berm and curbing in front of the Linq Hotel and Casino is all the separates the two uses in the contested area.

Tourists walk along Las Vegas Boulevard across the street from the Mirage Hotel and Casino. Many sidewalks are protected from traffic lanes by physical barriers, where others are not. Moving pedestrians along the Strip safely has become a major effort over the years.
