Betty Ciliax was born in Bisbee, Arizona. She moved to the Las Vegas area in 1932 when her father found work in Goodsprings, Nevada. Ciliax graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1938.

Len Zane and his wife came to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1973. Dr. Zane taught physics. He has spent over 34 years in education and administration at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

James G. "Sailor" Ryan was a long-time Nevada politician. He served in the Nevada State Assembly and on the Clark County Commission. He later worked in organized labor. He passed away in Las Vegas in 2007.

Herman is the brother of Ruth Jimerson-Carter, daughter-in-law of Leon Carter Sr.

The family was interviewed about their experiences in Las Vegas, and Herman contributed to the talk by sharing his experience of living on the West Side of Las Vegas.
