Known for his remarkable service in the Clark County School District, Wayne Tanaka has made brilliant impacts in the lives of his students, colleagues, and the Las Vegas community as a whole. He was born in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, as a second generation Asian-American to a Japanese father and a Japanese-American mother. He grew up with a strong sense of community and attended Kamehameha III School and Lahainaluna High School. Tanaka eventually went to University of Utah majoring in geography and minoring in political science and history.

Tony F. Sanchez III was born in the Las Vegas’ Women’s Hospital. It was 1966 and the plot of land the hospital sat on near Eastern and Sahara streets was considered rural. It was on the desert of the east Las Vegas that young Tony would grow up, graduate from Valley High School, and then graduate from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Arlene Blut was born July 30, 1940 in Duluth, Minnesota, where she attended a Conservative Jewish. She met Michael Peikoff while attending the University of Minnesota, and they married before he began medical school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Blut followed her husband’s residencies and fellowships to California, Michigan, and Manitoba before they came to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1971.
