Howard Hughes speaks into two microphones as he gives a news conference beside the Douglas DC-3, after landing in New York. This was his first flight after the nearly fatal crash of the first XF-11. A number of officials and onlookers stand nearby.

Description

Union Pacific #8444 steam locomotive. Northern class, 4-8-4 wheel arrangement with "FEF" class designation. First of type built in 1937 for freight and passenger service. One of the last mobile steam engines, it was the biggest attraction of the land auction reenactment celebrating the Diamond Jubilee (75th anniversary) of the City of Las Vegas.
