Typed onto a piece of paper attached to the image: "New York Acclaims World Fliers, New York City --- Looking up Broadway during the ticker-tape reception accorded Howard Hughes and his four companions in recognition of their Round-The-World record-smashing flight. The dense crowd which lined both sides of the through fare has closed in behind the parade, while further ahead fresh showers of torn paper flutter down on the motorcade. 7(3/4)-15-38. Description given with photo: "After Non-Stop Coast to Coast Flight -- Pilot Howard Hughes (left) millionaire flier and movie producer, co-pilot Joseph Bartles, and navigator Robert Stevens, relax at the controls of their Lock-heed Constellation after landing at LaGuardia Field in new York City, Feb. 15 on Pre-Inaugural non-stop coast to coast flight from Burbank, Calif. the Constellation, named "Start of California" and carrying 34 passengers, including movie stars and a crew of seven, landed at LaGuardia Field eight hours and 38 minutes after leaving Burbank. 22/15/46."

Although they didn't encounter a single snowflake on their roaring dash across Siberia, Howard Hughes and his four-man crew met a regular blizzard (of Broadway ticker tape) today as New York paid them homage as only New York know how. This is a view of the scene as the triumphal procession proceeded from the Battery to City Call. In the car are (left to right) Grover Whalen, President of the New York World's Fair, Howard Hughes and Al Lodwick, his press representative. (w) 7-15-38.30."
