The Las Vegas Real Estate Brochures Collection (1990-2010) is comprised of real estate brochures, pamphlets, folders, and fliers on housing developments in Las Vegas, Nevada. Materials include price sheets, photographs, and newspaper clippings related to the development of communities throughout the city.

Abstract

This collection has been removed from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries Special Collections and Archives' holdings by order of the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The collection was returned to the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Please contact special.collections@unlv.edu for further information.

The collection was comprised of photocopies of materials documenting investigations undertaken from 1973 to 1977 by Dennis Gomes, in his role as Nevada Gaming Control Board Division Chief and Law Enforcement Officer. The collection included investigative material on organized crime skimming at the Stardust, the Tropicana, and other Nevada casino-hotels.

Abstract

The Elsie and Richard Goldsworthy Collection on Las Vegas Ephemera (1960-1999) contains ephemera from hotels and casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada and includes programs, table tents, and postcards. There is additional material created by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and invitations to special events hosted by various Las Vegas dignitaries. Additional materials includes programs and fliers from local theater companies in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lorraine Thomas-Perry Papers

Abstract

The Lorraine Thomas-Perry Papers (1910-1936) contain the personal papers of Lorraine Thomas and her family, who were early residents of Beatty, Nevada. Collection materials include report cards, graduation certificates, correspondence, and short stories and poems written by family members. The majority of collection are photocopies. The collection also contains one original program for the opening banquet and ball for Hotel Fayle in Goodsprings, Nevada on May 13, 1916.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Nevada experienced a nursing shortage, largely as a result of the lack of nursing schools in the state and rapid population growth. To address the problem, the Nevada Board of Regents approved the implementation of an associate degree program at the campus of Nevada Southern University (now known as the University of Nevada, Las Vegas) in 1965, and that fall the first students were admitted.

Description

Oral history interview with Ashley Nitz conducted by Claytee D. White on February 6, 2018 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. In this interview, Ashley Nitz discusses her experiences attending the 2017 Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada with a friend. She talks about making the weekend of the event a "staycation", where she stayed with her friend at the Trump Hotel. Nitz goes into detail on the Route 91 Harvest festival venue and the events of that Sunday night when the shooting began. She speaks of the lockdown in the Tropicana Hotel and the support given there to all of the survivors, such as water and medical aid, as well as her journey home once the lockdown was lifted. The interview ends with a discussion on life after the shooting.
