A bird's eye view of Boulder City, Nevada. Postcard addressed to Mrs. Ralph Owens in Callery, Kansas with a handwritten message on back which reads: "Dear Sis, Here we are in Boulder City, Nev. Just went through the dam. Am having the time of my life. Intend to make Los Angeles by night (Tues?). Write you again, Gladys and Verna."

Howard Hughes in the Lockheed 14. Typed on a piece of paper attached to the image: "As Howard Hughes took off from Coast for flight east. Los Angeles, California-- The huge Lockheed "Flying Laboratory" of Howard Hughes, millionaire oil man and speed flyer, taking off from here for the flight to New York, from where he will take off for Paris. Credit Line (ACME) 7/4/1938."

Text printed on a card included with the image: "Howard Hughes and Albert Lodwick beside Northrop Gamma, surrounded by a crowd at the Floyd Bennett Airport after breaking the record from Miami to New York in 4 hours and 21 minutes (distance 1095 miles; average speed 250 mph; high speed 290 mph). This bettered Jimmy Wedell's July 1933 record by 36 minutes. New York, New York."
