Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: Atkinson came out on the floor of the Nevada Senate on April 22, 2013 while arguing against the state's proscription of same-sex marriage. On October 9, 2014 Atkinson and his partner, Sherwood Howard, became the first same-sex couple to marry in Nevada. Atkinson resigned his office on March 5, 2019 over accusations he misappropriated campaign funds for his personal use. He was convicted of fraud and sentenced to prison on July 18, 2019. Carlton's, research files dating from 1982 to 2011 in the "Oral History of the Public School Principalship" Project. The papers include research files about principals in Las Vegas, Nevada and Superintendents on the Clark County School District.
Oral history interview with Sanje Sedera conducted by Kristel Peralta, Cecilia Winchell, Ayrton Yamaguchi, and Stefani Evans on April 16, 2021 for Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project. Sanje Sedera discusses growing up in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, with his family. He shares his educational history, moving from Sri Lanka to Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia as a high schooler to learn English before immigrating to the United States to attend Idaho State University. Sedera discusses the political unrest and civil war that took place in Sri Lanka between the Tamil and Sinhalese people, and how he grew to appreciate political activism instilled in him by his paternal grandparents. Sedera shares his employment history working as a manager for K-Mart, an opportunity that brought him to Las Vegas, as well as his entrepreneurial pursuits of owning a mortgage business and becoming a realtor. He talks about the financial crisis of 2008 that led to losing his business, his attempts to run for public office, and how he helped to form Nevada's Asian American Democratic Caucus. Sedera concludes with a discussion of his Buddhist practice and how these philosophies have shaped his life.
Flora (Turchinsky) Dungan (1917-1973) was a Nevada Assemblywoman and University Regent who successfully sued the state of Nevada twice in order to gain additional representation for Clark County in the legislature and the Board of Regents (the governing board of the state's university system). As a result of Dungan v. Sawyer in 1964, seats were reapportioned in the Nevada legislature and Clark County gained four seats in the Assembly and seven in the Senate. After Dungan sued Nevada again in 1967, Clark County gained the majority of seats on the Board of Regents.

The Ward Lindquist Photograph Collection on Lake Mead (approximately 1945-1956) contains black-and-white photographic prints and negatives primarily from Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, both located in both Arizona and Nevada. The images depict recreational activities at Lake Mead, namely fishing, swimming, boating, and camping. The remaining images depict the exterior and interior of Hoover Dam, as well as nature and wildlife in southern Nevada.
The Alan Bible Photograph Collection contains color photographic prints of the Hoover Dam; an aerial of the Colorado River; an Atomic Energy Commission drill rig in Central Nevada; and views of a Nuclear Rocket Development Station (NRDS) facility at the Nevada Test Site between approximately 1970 to 1974. These photographs are captioned and were originally framed and hung in Alan Bible's United States Senate office.
