Abstract

The Las Vegas Jazz Society Records (approximately 1975-2003) are comprised of organizational records including meeting agendas, minutes, and membership statistics of the Las Vegas Jazz Society (LVJS). Included in the collection are issues of the LVJS's newsletter Jazz Notes, promotional materials, blank membership applications, correspondence, information on other regional jazz societies, and photographic prints depicting various events and festivals. A portion of this collection documents LVJS's involvement in saving the KUNV 91.5 FM radio station.

Marchese, Patricia, 1943-

Patricia Marchese worked for the city of Las Vegas and Clark County, Nevada for 30 years. She created numerous art and cultural programs for places like the Civic Symphony, Charleston Heights Arts Center, Rainbow Company Theatre, along with consulting work for the Allied Arts Council.

Marchese was born July 12, 1943 and grew up in Johnston, Pennsylvania. Marchese was raised on a farm surrounded by relatives. Marchese and her husband, Lamar, graduated from the University of South Florida and relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1972.

Lynch, Ann

Ann Lynch was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1934. She attended Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas. She came to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1959. She was very involved with the girl scouts, the Nevada chapter of the Parent Teacher Association, the Sunrise Hospital Children's Foundation, the Public Education Foundation, and with lobbying in both the state and federal legislatures.

Gibson, Fred, 1927-

Fred Gibson was born on May 24, 1927 in Golden, Colorado. He studied Japanese at Yale University and he went to the University of Nevada, Reno. He ran Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada and was a trustee director of the Nevada Development Authority. He was very involved in the development of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas College of Engineering.

Chandler, Allin O.

Allin Chandler moved with his mother from Texarkana, Texas, to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1958 to join his father, who was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. Chandler was a member of Rancho High School's first graduating class of 1962. He was a teacher, a principal, and Executive Director for the Clark County Association of School Administrators.
