Tucker, Sam

Sam Tucker was a Las Vegas, Nevada casino executive and former bootlegger. He was an associate of Moe Dalitz in the Prohibition-era liquor trade in Cleveland before moving to Las Vegas in the late 1940s to invest in the Desert Inn with Dalitz and others. Tucker served as chair of the United Jewish Appeal in Las Vegas from 1953 to 1956.

War, Kathy

Kathy War was born February 05, 1945 and raised in Helena, Montana. She and her husband, Tom married in 1968 while the status of the job market was uncertain. After a short time in Seattle, Washington, they came to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1970. War applied for a job with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' library. For the next four and a half years, she worked in the Curriculum Materials Library. She also worked in the Inter-Library loan department and eventually moved to Special Collections.

Farnsworth, Robert Lee, Sr., 1909-1998

Robert Lee Farnsworth was born July 3, 1909 in Chicago, Illinois. He lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for forty-three years where he worked as a real estate appraiser. He was the founder and president of United States Rocket Society, president of Tannisee Uranium Mining Co., and involved with the Masons and Shriners organizations. He passed away August 3, 1989.

Heyer, Mildred J.

Mildred J. Heyer was a teacher and librarian in Las Vegas, Nevada. She taught at John S. Park school and was a member of the Nevada Library Association. In 1962, Governor Grant Sawyer named Heyer as the Nevada State Librarian, a position she held until her resignation in 1970. She was an active member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and was an advocate for books and reading throughout Las Vegas and the state of Nevada.

Baldwin, Ray W., 1908-1984

Ray William Baldwin was born in Monroe, Utah on March 25, 1908. He later moved to Southern California and married Dorothy Ulla Murphy in 1932. He relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada by 1940 and worked as an architect for A. L. Worswick. He opened his own architecture firm in the mid-1950s. He moved to Arizona later in life and passed away on February 26, 1984.

Lenhart, Ted

Ted Lenhart worked as an LGBTQ activist in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1990s, primarily focused on the HIV and AIDS epidemic. He worked with multiple organizations, including the Nevada chapters of Aid for AIDS, AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT-UP), and the Clark County Coalition of HIV/AIDS Service Providers. Additionally, Lenhart worked to develop social support groups for LGBTQ individuals, including the HIV-Negative Men’s Support Group and Nevada Outdoors, an LGBTQ hiking club.
