The Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Community Collection (approximately 1973-2020) consists of artwork, memorabilia, ephemera, event fliers, and event photographs donated by members of the Latinx community in Las Vegas, Nevada and collected by staff members of the Oral History Research Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Materials were donated and collected as part of the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada oral history and community engagement project hosted by UNLV University Libraries. Some of the materials in this collection are related to oral history interviews for Lidia Bonilla, Horacio Lopez, Krystal Ramirez, and Gustavo Ramos. This collection also includes fliers and posters advertising events in the Latinx community, campaign signs for Latinx candidates running for office, and Spanish language campaign signs.
The Russ Morgan Music Manuscripts (approximately 1950-1967) are comprised of manuscript arrangements used by the Russ Morgan Band for live concert, radio, and television performances. The collection includes handwritten scores and parts for popular music.
The CineVegas International Film Festival Records (1999-2009) include promotional guides, press kits, and press clippings about the film festival which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1999 to 2009. The materials in the collection include "clip books" which are comprised of media and newspaper clippings that mention the film festival. The collection also includes issues of magazines such as the Las Vegas Weekly, Premiere, and the Hollywood Reporter that feature stories about the film festival. Also included are audiovisual materials that include DVD and Betacam SP B-roll footage and news segments from local news channels about the festival.
The UNLV Libraries Collection of Regional History Files (approximately 1855-2020) represent a wide variety of subjects relating to Las Vegas, Nevada and the surrounding region. Materials include newspaper clippings, documents and fliers, brochures, reports, and website printouts. The files include information about national organizations with local Nevada chapters, prominent individuals and families, popular locations, and general topics relating to Southern Nevada history.
The Mike Smith Editorial Cartoons (1980-2021) contain editorial cartoons created by Las Vegas, Nevada based cartoonist Mike Smith for the Las Vegas Sun newspaper. Materials include Smith's editorial cartoons on NASCAR and a copy of his 2003 book StockcarToons. The collection also includes Smith's personal sketchbooks and letters from fans.
The Rabbi Bernard Cohen Papers (1957-1984) consist of mainly bulletins for the Las Vegas Jewish Community Center (later known as Temple Beth Sholom). Other materials in this collection include correspondence to and from Rabbi Cohen and certificates of conversion signed by Cohen. The collection also includes a eulogy for Cohen written by Rabbi Wise as well as an advertisement for Cohen's book Sociocultural Changes in American Jewish Life as Reflected in Selected Jewish Literature which was published in 1972.
The Robert Ranney Collection on the Children's Service Guild of Southern Nevada(1947-1990) contain primarily newspaper clippings pertaining to juvenile crime, and other juvenile-related issues in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also included are materials chronicling the operation of the Clark County Juvenile Court Services, including photographs, and two scrapbooks.
The Nevada Hotel and Motel Association Collection contains items from the hospitality and service industries from 1979 to 1992. The collection consists of trade publications, conference brochures, and industry reports focusing on the service and hospitality industries in Nevada.
The Beth Daniels-Henderson Collection (1977-1991) is comprised of manuscript drafts and master copies, editor’s notes and notes from fellow authors, research notes, outlines, and book proposals. Beth Daniels-Henderson writes romance novels under the names Beth Daniels, Beth Henderson and Lisa Dane.
The Las Vegas Housing Development and Apartment Complex Brochures Collection contains sales brochures for Las Vegas, Nevada housing developments and apartment complexes from 1980 to 1992. The majority of the brochures include prices, floor plans, and artistic renderings of the various models being offered, as well as a map showing the location of the complex within the greater Las Vegas area.
