Oral history interview with Dr. Frank Roqueni conducted by Alia Rothstein on June 20, 2006 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Dr. Roqueni reflects upon his experience as a principal in Nevada’s Clark County School District (CCSD). He describes the process by which he became a principal, his regular responsibilities, and challenges that he faced. He discusses the high expectations that principals face, and suggests that individuals not enter the principalship because of those expectations. He also provides his opinion on issues such as standardized testing and school safety.

Oral history interview with Withania Neal conducted by Claytee D. White on July 09, 2006 for the Hurricane Katrina Survivors in Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Neal discusses her upbringing in Las Vegas, Nevada. She remembers attending a sixth grade center, and going to Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Neal talks about her experience with hurricane season in Louisiana, evacuating, and the development of hurricane Katrina. She describes the broken levees, the flooding of New Orleans, and the chaos that followed. Lastly, Neal recalls the weeks after the hurricane, damaged homes, and the process of rebuilding the community.

Oral history interview with Marion Allen conducted by Dennis McBride on April 14, 1986 for the UNLV University Libraries Oral History Collection. In this interview, Allen discusses the construction of the Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam) and his father’s employment on the dam. He talks about becoming a dam construction worker and the working conditions during the early stages of the dam. Allen recalls the labor strike in 1935 and the opening of the dam. Lastly, Allen talks about engineer Frank Crowe’s involvement with the the project.

VanDerMeer also talks about his marriage in Las Vegas and running a dairy and ice house. Other subjects VanDerMeer discuss include the the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, the growth of Las Vegas over time, and the history of Las Vegas from 1926 to 1955.
