Oral history interview with M. Joy Leavitt conducted by Matthew Jackson on March 09, 2004 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Leavitt reflects upon her 33-year career as an elementary school teacher and administrator with Nevada’s Clark County School District from the 1970s to the 2000s. She discusses her experience as a teacher and principal, her approach to school administration, and challenges that she faced such as being a principal at the time of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. She also discusses some of her best experiences while being principal and the environments of different schools.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Office of the Vice President for Research Records (1990-1992) mainly contains researcher grant proposal files kept by Dr. David McNelis who was the Associate Vice President for Research at UNLV from 1990 to 1994. Materials include applications, reports, and correspondence related to the Cray Research, Inc. and National Supercomputing Center for Energy and the Environment as well as applications for various UNLV research support grants. Nomination letters and applications for the first annual Nevada Regents' Researcher Award are also included in this collection. The collection also includes correspondence, reports, and research materials from UNLV's Academic Master Planning committee which was tasked with developing a long range development plan for the university in the early 1990s.

Oral history interview with Lester Earnest conducted by David Schwartz on August 8, 2017 for the Competitive Video Gaming Oral History Project. In this interview, Earnest discusses the beginning of his career in computing, speaking at length about the military SAGE project the he believes was designed to fail. He then talks at length about his work with the Stanford University Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL) and the development of the computing environment through the 1960s and 1970s. He also talks about his development of the FINGER protocol and the role of artificial intelligence in the early development of video gaming, as well as various individuals who got their start with SAIL before developing modern computing and software systems.

Oral history interview with Mary Ann and Carl Merrill conducted by Dennis McBride on June 24, 1986 for the Boulder City Library Oral History Project. In this interview, Carl Merrill discusses working for Anderson Brothers Dairy at the dam construction site and his experiences as a worker and resident in Boulder City, Nevada. Mary Ann Merrill talks about moving with her parents and brother to Boulder City and finding work, as a teenager, in the town. They both discuss their marriage and subsequent life in Boulder City, commenting on the environment, social conditions, and growth in Southern Nevada.

The UNLV Libraries Single Item Accession Photograph Collection (approximately 1869-1999) contains photographs, postcards, negatives, and slides primarily pertaining to Southern Nevada, with a focus on Las Vegas, Nevada, collected by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas University Libraries, Special Collections and Archives. The collection primarily includes images of early Las Vegas, hotels and casinos along Fremont Street and the Strip, railroad infrastructure, local businesses, and residential neighborhoods. Also included are images of Hoover (Boulder) Dam's construction, MX Missile testing, Nevada mining camps, and the natural desert environment. Other images depict towns throughout Nevada including Boulder City, Henderson, Reno, Luning, Tonopah, Goodsprings, Delmar, Beatty, Panaca, Overton, Caliente, Logandale, and Aurora.

Oral history interview with Beverly Minnear conducted by Regina Goings on April 15, 2003 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Minnear reflects upon her more than 30-year career with the Clark County School District (CCSD) as a speech therapist and school administrator from 1970 to the time of the interview in 2003. She describes the process by which she began working in special education, and eventually became principal at John F. Miller and Variety Elementary School. She discusses the responsibilities that she faced as principal, and how her school operations compared to different schools within CCSD. She discusses the importance of working relationships between teachers, administrators and parents, and how such relationships impacted the learning environment.

Oral history interview with Larry K. Lytle conducted by Kenneth V. Higbee on April 26, 2004 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Lytle reflects upon his 30-year career as a teacher and administrator with Nevada’s Lincoln County School District (LCSD) from the 1970s to the 2000s. He describes the process by which he became a principal, and describes his approach to fostering a safe learning environment for students and staff. He also describes how his religious beliefs shaped his approach to leadership, and how his responsibilities changed over time as he simultaneously oversaw the elementary, middle, and high school in Alamo, Nevada. He provides his opinion on schooling challenges such as standardized testing, and offers suggestions for individuals interested in pursuing school administration.
