A postcard showing buildings on Fremont Street with a handwritten letter on back which reads: "Dear Grandmother, Does this photo look familiar to you? You will see I have marked our place of business with a cross. Business has been very good with us lately and I have not had much time to write. I love to write so well you know. Floyd is still working and doing fine. We had a bad fire in Vegas about a week ago. Dobson Bros. grocery store went up in smoke. Tell Grandad hello for me and tell [Maude?] to drop me a line. Earl." The second photograph shows The People's Store and has "1st State Bank" written on its back side.

The early Las Vegas, Nevada photographs depict the development and growth of Las Vegas, Nevada from approximately 1900 to 1961. The photographs depict the Stewart Ranch (also known as the Las Vegas Ranch), the Mormon Fort, the Las Vegas Townsite Auction of 1905, Fremont Street, the Union Pacific Railroad depot, the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad depot, and significant buildings. The items described include black-and-white photographic prints, postcards, and negatives; items listed are photographic prints unless otherwise specified. Numbered items inside oversized boxes are photographs within scrapbooks and have been digitized.

Photographic postcard showing homes on 4th and Fremont Street. "Originally home of John S. Park. Purchased in 1918 by W. E. Ferron. House razed [in] 1941 because area became business district. Family moved to 1107 S. 5th Place NE corner 4th & Fremont. Next door, home of Wallie Bracken. ID by Shirley Ferron Swanson 10-25-83." Quote was a hand inscription on the back of the photograph.
