On July 15, 1975, Pamela Larkins interviewed Mary E. Habbart (born 1897 in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania) in her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two discuss Habbart’s personal family history and her family’s reasons for moving to Las Vegas. Habbart also describes social and economic changes to Las Vegas and her local dairy farm.

On April 1, 1976, James F. Haughaboo interviewed his father, Joseph L. Haughaboo in his father’s home at 954 Lulu Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada. The two discuss Haughaboo’s personal family history, his occupational history, and Mr. Haughaboo’s observations of Las Vegas city life since he moved to the state in 1953.

Gordon Smith was born in Utah, but moved with his family to Babbitt, Nevada in 1947. His father, a barber, moved the family to Las Vegas in 1955. In this interview, Gordon recalls school and after-school pursuits; changes in the town; summer jobs; and college. He also talks about his military service and returning to Las Vegas to take up the razor himself - starting a successful barbering business of over 30 years.

Interview with Agnes Marshall by Claytee D. White on September 12, 2011. Marshall moved to Las Vegas in 1955, to the Berkley Square neighborhood. In 1969, Marshal was hired by Riviera and retired in 1990.

When Shirley Mudra arrived in Las Vegas in 1966, she came tearfully. But as the wife of a Nevada Test site manager and mother of three young children, she was accustomed to adapting. Indeed, she adapted and remains a Las Vegas resident. Shirley and her husband Paul (above photo) met while both were in the Air Force. She was the daughter of a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, homemaker and railroad worker and describes her upbringing. She also talks about her joy of enlistment in the Air Force and the transition to being a wife, mother and her employment at the Department of Energy. Shirley's narrative includes details of early Las Vegas life, raising children here and becoming part of the changing community through friendships.
