Abstract

Oral history interview with Rosemary Ruymann conducted by Bruce Kraft on February 16, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Ruymann discusses her career as a teacher and life in early Las Vegas, Nevada. Ruymann also describes the excitement surrounding the construction of Hoover (Boulder) Dam and the kinds of people it would attract, such as the president, engineers, and dentists concerned with the amount of fluoride in the proposed area for Lake Mead.

Abstract

The UNLV University Libraries Collection on Hoover Dam dates from 1935 to 1937 and consists of black-and-white photographs of the construction of Hoover Dam in Nevada. The collection is an artifical collection created by UNLV Special Collections and Archives staff. The photographs document early construction of the Hoover Dam to images of the dam at completion. The collection also contains photographs of construction workers.

The Wayne Cronister Photograph Collection depicts towns in Southern Nevada from 1905 to 1950. The photographs primarily depict Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada and the construction of the Hoover (Boulder) Dam on the Colorado River. The photographs also include the Union Pacific Railroad Depot in Las Vegas, Nevada, the abandoned town of Rhyolite, Nevada, and a mining camp in El Dorado Canyon.
