The Barbara Tabach Papers (1978-2022) mainly contain project files kept by oral historian Barbara Tabach throughout her experiences managing different oral history community documentation projects for the Oral History Research Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) from 2010 to 2022. Oral history projects represented in this collection include Documenting the African American Experience in Las Vegas, Nevada, Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project, Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada, Remembering 1 October, and The Great Pause: Las Vegas Chronicles of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The majority of the collection represents Tabach's involvement as project manager for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Other materials include correspondence, newspaper clippings, event invitations, interview questions, memorabilia and books gifted to Tabach from oral history narrators, and publicity for the projects.
Oral history interview with Beth Molasky conducted by David Schwartz on June 06, 2014 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Molasky discusses her childhood experiences in Las Vegas, Nevada, especially as a member of the Jewish community. She also reflects on changes that influenced her children’s upbringing in the city.
Oral history interview with Steven Eisen conducted by Barbara Tabach on September 14, 2016 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Eisen talks about growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada and being of Jewish ancestry. He also discusses being the CEO of Children’s Heart Center Nevada.
Oral history interview with David Wasserman conducted by Barbara Tabach on October 21, 2016 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Wasserman discusses inventing, with his father-in-law, the "Sani-Tip" a dental product that revolutionized dentistry infection control at the onset of the AIDS epidemic. He also talks about being involved within the Las Vegas, Nevada Jewish community and the Congregation Ner Tamid.
Oral history interview with Natalie Wolf conducted by Barbara Tabach on October 22, 2016 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Wolf shares stories of operating the Greyhound bus station, a three-year ownership of Commercial Deli, and her long career working collections for the casino industry. She discusses working for Tropicana Hotel and Casino, and MGM Properties, including the Mirage Hotel.
Oral history interview with Ellis Landau conducted by Barbara Tabach on November 28, 2017 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Landau discusses his education at Brandeis University, and Columbia Business School. He also talks about his involvement in the Las Vegas, Nevada Jewish community, the Temple Beth Sholom, working for Boyd Gaming, the Anti-Defamation League, and the Nathan Adelson Hospice.
Oral history interview with Margot Mink Colbert conducted by Barbara Tabach on November 11, 2014 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Colbert discusses her Jewish heritage and her background in ballet dancing. She also talks about “Transitions Trilogy,” her original story of Jewish immigration into New York and Jewish contributions to mainstream media, all expressed through dance.
Oral history interview with Jay Poster conducted by Barbara Tabach on August 26, 2016 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Poster describes his growth through his career in funeral services and his respect for the Jewish traditions of burial and grieving. He also talks about his participation in the ShabbaTones Band at Congregation Ner Tamid, and Desert Winds, a community based performance organization.
