Abstract

Oral history interview with Arthur Marshall conducted by Barbara Tabach on April 18, 2018 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. In this interview, Marshall discusses his early life in Ohio and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1959. He talks about his Jewish heritage, the growth of the Jewish community in Las Vegas, and his role as a Jewish leader. Lastly, Marshall remembers the formation of the apparel store Marshall Rousseau, and working with local banks.

Oral history interview with Melody Stein conducted by Barbara Tabach on August 16, 2016 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Stein discusses teaching at the Hebrew Academy and Adelson Educational Campus. She also discusses Jewish art and various forms and mediums of art. She then talks about her involvement with the local Polymer Clay Guild and their various projects.

Temple Beth Am (Las Vegas, Nev.)

Temple Beth Am was a Jewish Reform congregation founded by Rabbi Mel Hecht in 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1992, some members of the congregation, unhappy with Rabbi Hecht's leadership, broke off to form Congregation Adat Ari El. Construction on Beth Am's campus began in Summerlin in 2001. In 2007 Temple Beth Am and Adat Ari El merged to form Temple Sinai.

Nasser discusses being whisked away with his brother from their Hungarian home and sentenced to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland at the age of 13. He also talks about moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1993; and being an international speaker, author, and educator on the Holocaust.
