The images include his professional and personal work, and include bands, DJs, dancers, and performers in various nightclubs and bars in downtown Las Vegas and the Strip. Other subjects include local events; the University of Las Vegas, Nevada; architecture; scenic views of Las Vegas; and personal travel photographs. A number of shoots contain nudity and are noted at the file level of the inventory.

It also contains a number of portraits taken for Hughes' work at various publications including CityLife and Business Press. Other subjects include politicians and political events; the University of Las Vegas, Nevada; architecture; scenic views of Las Vegas; and self-portraits.
