Williams, Cleophis, 1926-2022

Cleophis Williams was born on April 30, 1926 in Oklahoma to Raymond and Lena Hill. She moved ot Las Vegas, Nevada in 1943. She married Tom Williams, a construction worker, in 1943. They had nine children together and had a home in the historic Las Vegas, Nevada neighborhood, the Westside. Cleophis passed away on May 2, 2022.

Weinberger, William S., 1913-1996

William S. "Billy" Weinberger (1913-1996) was president of Caesars Palace in the 1960s and 1970s. He was also president of Bally's Park Place casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey in the 1970s and 1980s and ambassador emeritus for the Golden Nugget and the Mirage in Las Vegas in the 1980s and 1990s.

Weinberger, Jean, 1916-1993

Jean Weinberger (née Zinner, 1916-1993) was an active member of the Las Vegas, Nevada Jewish community. She moved to Las Vegas in 1966 with her husband, casino executive Billy Weinberger. In 1977, while serving as campaign chair of the Combined Jewish Appeal, Jean Weinberger helped to found the Jewish Family Service Agency.

Sanchez, Tony F., III, 1966-

Tony F. Sanchez III was born in the Las Vegas’ Women’s Hospital. It was 1966 and the plot of land the hospital sat on near Eastern and Sahara streets was considered rural. It was on the desert of the east Las Vegas that young Tony would grow up, graduate from Valley High School, and then graduate from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Horacio Lopez was born on January 12, 1938, in Cordova, New Mexico to Elias and Cordelia Lopez. Lopez describes his hometown as self-sufficient and self-reliant and that his family grew their own food and raised livestock. His father only received a second-grade education and worked as a miner.
