Steve Evans was born in Henderson, Nevada. He grew up in the Carver Park community. Evans left Las Vegas, Nevada for a few years to pursue a career in social justice and activism. He returned to Las Vegas and has been involved in community service, worked as a City Planning Comissioner, and a Chair of the Downtown Design Review.
Dancer Charles Nur Fernald first came to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1963 to perform for five weeks in the Kay Starr Show at the Sahara Hotel and again in 1964 working with Donn Arden for three months at the Desert Inn Hotel. Born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1939, Fernald moved several times to various places in Arizona and southern California with his parents, Charles Knox Fernald and Marguerite Marie Higgins Fernald, and half-siblings before settling in Hollywood, California, where he remained (except for his short stints in Las Vegas) from 1961 to 1967.
When Kenneth Fong was born November 11 1955, the family lived in a modest home on 20th and Stewart in Las Vegas, Nevada. When he entered third-grade, his parents moved his family to a newer subdivision near Rancho and West Charleston Avenue: the Scotch 80s. Their new custom home on Silver Avenue reflected Asian architecture and the family’s Chinese cultural heritage.
Emma Ellsworth was born in Payson, Utah on September 25, 1902. She moved to Pioche, Nevada shortly after getting married to her husband. She later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and raised her children there.
Lyla Joy Foremaster Ford was born December 12, 1928 in Las Vegas, Nevada and has a career as a decorator for the Tropicana Hotel. Her family owned the Old Ranch, now known as Stewart Ranch.
Richard Erbe was born on July 16, 1922 in El Monte, California. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1958. He is of German ancestry and was an educator in Las Vegas. He was a teacher for many years, starting out with the 5th grade, but also went on to become a principal at many of the Las Vegas Valley's schools.
Carol Forsythe was born March 8, 1934 in Urbana, Ohio. Her husband was a firefighter when the Clark County Fire Department was first developed in October 1953.
Gordon Chrisite was born on March 9th, 1916 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1958. He worked as a carpenter. He helped build numerous hotels including the MGM Grand, Fremont, Desert Inn, and the Sahara.
