After the war, he attended college and received a law degree from Syracuse University. Because of a sister and brother-in-law who had settled in Las Vegas, Nevada, he ventured to join them in Las Vegas during the 1950s. Deaner became a leader in the law profession during the 1960s and the 1970s.
