Description

On February 10, 1979, collector Tom Mattingly interviewed his neighbor, professional engineer geologist and registered surveyor, Ernest Henry Clary (born May 21st, 1906 in Lincoln, Nebraska) in the collector’s home in Las Vegas, Nevada. The interview covers Mr. Clary’s personal and professional life and the history of Nevada, including, the early above-ground atomic tests, presidential visits and the crash of Carole Lombard’s plane. All persons present during the interview, include: Tom Mattingly, Ernest Clary, Mary Mattingly, and Matt Mattingly.

Scope and Contents

The family series contains a variety of materials from 1860 through 1982. These materials include such items as Mayme Stocker’s autograph book from 1887, family letters, an 1860 Pennsylvania newspaper, several Daily Territorial Enterprise from 1896-97, and miscellaneous papers ranging from Harold Stocker’s 1911 report card to certificates of appreciation and inaugural invitations. The material in this portion is about the family’s history and about the family’s interests and activities.

The business and legal series consists mainly of Harold Stocker’s papers related to his southern Nevada businesses and covers the years from 1930 through 1977. There are also estate papers, civil suits, personal taxes, and Chief Hotel Court statements and room accounts.
