Carver, Carver-Duhme, and Carver-Book Families (Smoky Valley). Laura Stebbins Darrough, said to have discovered the gold deposit at Round Mountain, Nevada, while searching for an escaped milk cow. Man with back to the camera is unidentified.

1200 ft. level, Belmont Mine, Tonopah, NV, 1911. There is an inscription on the back of the image: "The Tonopah Belmont Development Company was Tonopah's second most prosperous mining company, recording a production of $38,000,000. The Belmont mine was the company's principal working shaft and reached a depth of 1700 feet. The Belmont shaft was in use from 1909 until it was burned out by a fire of undetermined origin October 31, 1939." There is a date stamp: mid-year 1987.

From the Nye County, Nevada Photograph Collection (PH-00221) -- Series VII. Other areas in Nye County -- Subseries VII.E. Hawkins Family (Duckwater, Nevada).  A camp in Railroad Valley, Nye County, Nevada, in the vicinity of present-day (1990) oil fields where Isaac "Ike" Irwin drilled for potash. Seated in the wagon wearing a white shirt is Frank Roberts and beside him is Jess Hildebrandt, a resident of Duckwater, Nevada. This photograph is undated, but judging by Frank Robert’s age in the photo it appears to be circa 1915.

The Tonopah-Goldfield Mining Photograph Collection depicts mining activities in the mining towns of Tonopah and Goldfield in Esmeralda County, Nevada from approximately 1901 to 1920. The photographs primarily depict mines, miners, mills, construction, ore, and workers transporting ore. The photographs also depict events and people in Tonopah and Goldfield, including parades, celebrations, banquets, children, Native Americans, and prominent buildings.
