Wattin, Lucela M., 1979-

"Interviewed by Stefani Evans. Arriving in Las Vegas in 2015 directly from her hometown in Cebu Province, Philippines, Lucela M. Wattin was struck by the dry climate, "like an oven!" But she immediately felt at home in her apartment near Spring Mountain Road and Chinatown, because she could buy familiar food items, and because her new next door neighbor also came from Cebu Province.

Mulrooney, Edward P. (1874-1960)

Edward P. Mulrooney was the former Police Commissioner of New York City, New York between 1930 and 1933. He was born on July 24, 1874 in Union City, New Jersey to Irish immigrants. Mulrooney joined the Police Department in 1896 and was most well known for serving as New York State's first chariman of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board in 1933, immeidately after the repeal of Prohibition. A speech by Mulrooney speech on gun control was used for a foreward for the Howard Hughes-produced film Scarface (1932).

Adorée, Renée, 1898-1933

French born silent film star Renée Adorée was boen in Lille, France on September 30, 1898 to Victorine Lamarr and Jean De La Fonte as Jeanne de la Fonte. She began working in a circus at the age of 5, and eventually she went on to become a dancer. She arrived in Hollywood, California in 1920, and soon began acting. She starred in 45 films, including Howard Hughes' The Mating Call (1928).

Cunningham, Lodge

Lodge Cunningham worked as a sound technician on several shorts in 1929 before Howard Hughes hired him to serve as the sound engineer for his full-length feature, Hell's Angels. Cunningham went on to record and engineer movie sound on a total of 106 films and television shows before retiring to operate a restaurant in Red Mountain, California. He died in 1991.

Brent, Evelyn, 1899-1975

American film star Evelyn Brent was born on October 20 between 1895 and 1901 in Tampa, Florida. She moved to Brooklyn, New York as a teenager where she earned jobs modeling. While in school, Brent visited the World Film Studio in Fort Lee, New Jersey and was offered a job acting. She made her screen debut in A Gentleman from Mississippi (1914), and went on to star in films and television until 1960. She starred in Howard Hughes' adaptation of Rex Beach's novel The Mating Call in 1928.

Alexander, J. B. (Jesse Bennett), 1895-1976

Born in Dallas, Texas in 1897, Jesse Bennett (J. B.) Alexander was an aviation executive who taught Howard Hughes to fly in 1927 and served as Chief of Aeronautics for Hughes' film Hell's Angels between 1927 and 1930. Alexander later founded the Harlow Aircraft Manufacturing Company, worked as a regional manager for the young American Airways, and patented designs for imporvements in aviation control technology. He died in 1976.
