During October of 1937, Grand Canyon Airlines provided regular scenic air service off the surface of Lake Mead in the plane which was originally used by the noted explorer, the late Martin Johnson, on his big game photographing trips in South Africa.

View of National Park Service 45' cruiser recently transferred from the Coast Guard Service in Hawaii. After repairs and repainting, the craft was launched on Lake Mead.
