Ryann Juden, an Assistant City Manager, talks about the growth of North Las Vegas under the leadership of Mayor John Lee. He shares information about Mayor Lee's partnership with Brookings Institution for real estate development and electric vehicle negotiations with Faraday Future by Dr. Qiong Liu.

Oral history interview with Peter James Guzman conducted by Claytee D. White on September 10, 2018 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Guzman discusses his family's history and shares his father’s emigration story from Cuba to the United States. He recalls growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada, attending Chaparral High School, living on 28th Street and Bonanza, and his career in real estate. Lastly, Guzman talks about his role as President of the Latin Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chairman of Hope for Prisoners, and Vice Chairman of Workforce Connection.

Oral history interview with Donna L. Miller conducted by Claytee D. White on July 15, 2015 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Miller begins by describing her early upbringing on her family's potato farm in Oregon before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. She discusses attending Las Vegas High School, joining the Rhythmettes, the school's female dance group, and her experiences in the Rhythmettes, including where she performed and the team's coach, Evelyn Stuckey. Miller also briefly discusses working as a secretary at the Sahara Hotel and Casino and real estate in Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Sandy Croteau conducted by Claytee D. White on January 18, 2024 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Croteau discusses the history of Tule Springs area, which covers over 13,000 acres and how she became involved in turning the area into Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument. Croteau is a retired real estate professional and a National Parks volunteer. She recalls growing up in Los Angeles and Downey, California and engaging in outdoor activities with her father and brothers, which paved the way for her work on Tule Springs.

Oral history interview with Charmaine Lai conducted by Cecilia Winchell and Stefani Evans on November 24, 2021 for Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project.

Charmaine recounts her childhood growing up Hakka Chinese in South Africa. She discusses both the positives of growing up in South Africa, including the beautiful scenery and her family's cooking and traditions, and the negatives including the discrimination she faced in school and in her work. Charmaine also talks about her immigration to the United States, raising her three children, and her work as a real estate agent.

Abstract

Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American & Pacific Islander Web Archive is comprised of archived websites captured in 2022 and 2023 that are related to UNLV University Libraries community documentation project, "Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American & Pacific Islander Oral History Project." Archived websites represent local Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) civic and service organizations and individuals that have been interviewed as part of the oral history project. The collection includes archived websites of organizations such as the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce, the Asian-American Advocacy Clinic, Asian Community Development Council, and Thai Culture Foundation. Archived websites of individuals represented in this collection includes entrepreneur, real estate investor, and motivational speaker Lisa Song Sutton and magician Juliana Chen.
