Oral history interview with Edward C. Perkins conducted by Judith Plaster on November 03, 1978 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Perkins discusses his personal history after moving to Boulder City, Nevada in 1942 following his employment by the United States Bureau of Mines. Perkins discusses the Basic Magnesium Plant in Henderson, Nevada and magnesium's uses during World War II, gold mines in California and Nevada, and other mining operations throughout the state of Nevada. Perkins also discusses his career with the United States Bureau of Mines and life in Boulder City.

Oral history interview with Mary Ellen Schwartz and Jane Fleming conducted by Marta Planzo on December 11, 1975 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. The sisters begin by discussing their family's ownership of mines near Goodsprings, Nevada and what metals were found in those mines. They describe life in Goodsprings and more of their family history, such as their uncles who moved to Henderson, Nevada to work for Basic Magnesium. The two continue, discussing the other families in Goodsprings and how the town has changed.

Oral history interview with Woodrow Wilson conducted by Perry Kaufman on November 01, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Wilson discusses work at the McNary sawmill in Arizona, and later arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada to work at the Basic Magnesium Plant, located in Henderson, Nevada. Wilson also talks about discrimination between maids in motels and hotels, along with moments of segregation at the Basic Magnesium Plant. He then explains how he organized and became a board member of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Louis La Porta conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on November 4, 2016 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. La Porta first discusses arriving at Las Vegas Air Force Base in 1944 and going to work at the Basic Magnesium plant, which soon closed down. He then talks about how he and his wife became involved in the growth of Henderson, Nevada. La Porta also recalls his service for two terms on the first Henderson city council (1954-1960) and then serving on the Clark County Commission (1960-1969).

Oral history interview with Helen Mott Cecil conducted by Claytee D. White on April 24, 2007 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Helen Mott Cecil discusses growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada on the Westside, including seeing the Helldorado parades and Hoover (Boulder Dam). She also discusses working for Farmers Home Association and in the medical care and entertainment industry during the 1930s. She then discusses her divorce and other topics like the atomic bomb testing, the bus system, and downtown Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Carl Woodbury conducted by Patricia Jolly on February 01, 1972 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Woodbury shares his experiences working throughout Southern Nevada, including at the State Treasure office, Basic Magnesium Plant, and The Review Journal.

Oral history interview with Mert Wilber conducted by Gabriel Filippone on March 05, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Wilber discusses his arrival to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1942 to work for the Basic Magnesium Plant in Henderson, Nevada. Wilber describes how and where the magnesium was mined. Wilber lastly discusses the low crime rate at the time, and the sudden growth in population starting in the 1950s.
