Eddie Wright Jr. was born in Altheimer, Arkansas. Eddie James Wright, Jr. and Johnie B. (Sparkman) Wright are a retired couple who met, married, and raised their family in Las Vegas. Eddie, whose family roots were in Arkansas, arrived in 1953 shortly after graduating from high school. His first job was at the Greyhound Bus terminal, where he worked his way up to become the first black ticket and information clerk. He worked there 19 years and supplemented his income as an auto mechanic.
Johnie Beatrice Sparkman Wright was born on June 8, 1939 in McNary, Arizona. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1941. Johnie is a retired nurse's aide who received her training at Rose De Lima Hospital in 1968. As a native Las Vegan she recalls stories of her youth: Brownies, dancing at Silver Slipper and not being allowed on Jackson Street. She remembers moving to Berkley Square in 1959 and what it was like to live there.
James "Jim" Ralph Olson was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked for the firm Cromer, Barker, and Michaelson, that reprsented the MGM Grand's in surance company, INA, Insurance Company of North America during the 1980 MGM Grand Hotel fire litigation.
