Mayor C.D. Baker signs the proclamation for Dog Week, Sept. 20-26, 1953. C.D. Baker is sitting next to Dr. and Mrs. Basse Wallace's boxer dog, named Blim. The sign reads, "Dog Show, sponsored by the City recreation Dept. All Dogs eligible to enter, mixed breed or pedigreed. Contest open to adults & children. Wed. Sept 23, 6:30 P.M." and "Prizes for the; longest ears, tallest, smallest, heaviest, lightest, longest tail, shortest tail, most appropriate name, best teeth, longest hair, best groomed, best costume. Blooded Dogs for Exhibit Only!"
