Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: This series of photographs of the Gipsy nightclub arson fire was downloaded from the Internet on August 20, 2018 and includes Guava Soleil's captions. Efforts to reach Soleil were unsuccessful. Soleil's caption for image no. 4651 reads, "(The only pageant I ever entered) ... sportswear/question and answer ... Kenny Kerr hosting! The bar burnt to the ground just after these pix were taken ... ." Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: Sasha's was a queer bar and restaurant [2002-2003] which stood at 4640 South Paradise Road named for manager/female impersonator Josh Ryan who performed as Sasha Scarlet. After Sasha's closed, owner D. L. Washburn donated photos of the bar to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Special Collections Department [photograph collection no. 00412], and the bar's signature stained glass window to the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas. Ralph Avendano, the museum's Maintenance Worker IV, built a wood frame to hold the window.
