Mirna Preciado was born July 21, 1956 and raised in Tijuana, Mexico. When her family decided to immigrate in 1980, she decided to reach for her American dream. Preciado’s husband wanted her to be a stay-at-home mom, but the idea of working and buying her own bread intrigued her. She became a waitress at the new Margarita’s Restaurant in the Frontier Hotel. Though she liked her work, she was bothered by the other workers with requests to join the Culinary Union Local 226. Soon, those workers became her guardian angels.

Leain Vashon was born on September 16, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1974. He was an actor, playwrite, producer, director, and the Vice President of the Local 226 Culinary Workers Union.

Virginia Velasquez was born January 22, 1978 and raised in Henderson, Nevada. She worked as a bartender while also being a member of the Sierra Club, a non-profit organization focused on improving Nevada’s natural environment.

David Peinado was born March 25, 1970 in Mexico. His family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1989. He married his wife, Diana, on September 24, 1994 in Las Vegas. Peinado held a career as a bartender.

Rosemary Christian-Keach was born October 31, 1960 and was raised in California. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1976. She married her husband, Lee, on October 23, 1998 at Lake Tahoe. Christian-Keach held a career as a bartender.

George E. Franklin Sr. was born in England in 1890. He lived in Las Vegas, Nevada after immigrating to America. George published two books, From Cotswolds to High Sierras (1966) and The Fallacy of Appeasment (1968). George Franklin passed away in 1971.
