Help Us Write History article from UNLV Special Collections, posted in the Las Vegas Review Journal on August 28, 1983 on behalf of the Dorothy Dorothy Collection. The purpose of this article was to identify the man in the image after the collection was donated.
Three individuals stand together while the woman in the middle holds an award plaque. It reads: "Presented to Gala/Cala L. Mercier for (illegible) service as President of North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce 1960-1961." The man on the right may be Justice John Mowbray. The name tags worn cannot be read.
A young boy wearing a cowboy-like shirt and boots stands next to an old man wearing suspenders and a top hat. The unidentified pair lean against a car. Behind them, signs for Budweiser Beer and Coca Cola hang from the nearby building. Inscription with photo reads: "I can't recall this old timer's name, or the boy who is a man now."" Politicians sit together on a couch, likely during a political ralley before Lyndon B. Johnson became the Vice President. Identified from left to right: "1. Walter Baring, 2. Grant Sawyer, 3. Lyndon Johnson, 4. Alan Bible, 5. Howard Cannon, 6. Benny Goffstein(?)"
