Handwritten on the back: "My Pappy. Edwin Wien. I could write books about this fellow, and never tell just how fond I am of him. He is married, and religiously devote to his wife. He has a daughter 2 yrs old. Carries her shoe with him where ever he goes. He lives only for those two. It is indeed heart breaking to watch him read his letters, he longs from them so. Is a pity, he must be separated from them."
