Rivera, Erma Linda, 1952-

Erma Linda Rivera was born in Morenci, Arizona, in 1952. In the Las Vegas Valley, where Linda has lived for over twenty years, she has promoted educational opportunities for youth, particularly in the Hispanic community. Both she and her husband moved from Montana, where her husband worked as a power plant operator on Yellowtail Dam, to southern Nevada to work on Hoover Dam in 1986. Linda was put in charge of the affirmative employment plan for her branch of the Bureau of Reclamation.

Francis Lorin Ronnow was born on June 23, 1909 in Panaca, Nevada. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1928 where worked worked as a hoisting engineer during the construction of the Hoover Dam. Ronnow passed away on July 24, 1987.

Price, Margaret M., 1918-2006

Margaret M. "Maggie" Price, 88, of Boulder City, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006. She was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Freeport, Ill., and spent her childhood growing up in Columbus and Lebanon, Ohio. Maggie married Frank, a native of Columbus, Ohio, Feb. 3, 1938. They moved to Las Vegas in 1949. Maggie worked at the Sands Hotel as a showroom waitress during the "Rat Pack" era. She retired to take care of her daughter, Patti Kay. Years later, they moved to Boulder City.

Vitto, G. L., 1922-1991

G.L. Vitto worked as a sportscaster and late-night movie host in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on October 20, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he worked as a radio disc jockey. VItto moved to Las Vegas in 1958. He worked at KENO radio, then as a sports reporter at Channel 13 and, later, Channel 8. He also worked as a ringside announcer for boxing matches at the Silver Slipper and hosted a late-night movie show. He died in Las Vegas of a heart attack on October 28, 1991.

Salisbury, Lawrence J., Jr., 1916-1994

Lawrence J. Salisbury was born on July 10, 1916 in Provo, Utah. Salisbury later moved to Boulder City, Nevada in 1935 where he made a career in the grocery business. He passed away on April 10, 1994.

Williams, Myrna, 1929-

Myrna Williams was born in Chicago in 1929. Her brother was the singer Mel Tormé, so the family moved to Hollywood when she was ten because her brother was under contract with MGM. Shortly after Myrna turned 21, she moved to New York to work for Decca Records. She met the jazz drummer David Williams, whom she married. Myrna, David, and their daughter Indy moved to Las Vegas in 1959. Myrna got involved in politics, and was elected to the Nevada State Assembly and to the Clark County Commission.

Gibson, Rachel Ann, 1913-2004

Rachel Gibson was the granddaughter of Nevada pioneers. Rachel was born in 1913 in Yerington. Her 1930 class was the first to graduate from Las Vegas High School, and Rachel received her Bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley. She taught first in Boulder City, then at the J.T. McWilliams Elementary School in Las Vegas. Rachel also was active in many community groups. Rachel passed away on April 25, 2004.
