The mine in the background is the Basque Mine located in the Tuscarora Mining District. The caption reads,"Burial services at the mine for A.M. Kushiwa. Asian culture believes the funeral should take place at the site of death whenever possible. I can only assume that he was a miner in some type of accident. April 23, 1933."
