Description

On June 30, 1975, Larry DuRussel interviewed carpenter Gordon Christie, (born March 9th, 1916 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. During this interview Gordon discusses having worked on the building of the MGM, Fremont Downtown, the Sahara Hotel, Desert Inn, and the Frontier Hotel, amongst others. Before becoming a carpenter, Gordon recalls working with his father at a furniture factory. He also discusses religion, politics, family life and the growth of Las Vegas.

Bollig, Frank M., 1906-1987

Frank M. Bollig was born in December 10, 1906 in Kansas, Bollig relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in April of 1942. Bollig intended to move to California, but an older phramacist and friend convinced him to come to Nevada. At the time of his interview, Bollig owned a drug store at the Plaza Drug Store in Parkway Plaza Shopping Center located at Sahara and Maryland Parkway, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bollig was married in 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Charles Nur Fernald conducted by Claytee D. White on May 31, 2014 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview Charles Nur Fernald discusses permanently moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in January 1968 to perform with Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. He discusses auditioning for the Lido de Paris show at the Stardust Hotel and Casino. He talks about how he remained there for sixteen years and how he is the only male dancer who performed with Lido through five different consecutive productions. Fernald also discusses meeting his partner, Aquiles Garcia in 1969.

Description

Mattresses dumped on the corner of Eldora Avenue South Edmond Street south of Sahara and west of Decatur Boulevard. The neighborhood is made up of a subdivision of single family homes, a multi-family apartment complex and ranch style single family housing.
