Magda Nissanov and her family were sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau from Hungary in 1944. She and her sister were later sent to a work camp in Bavaria, and eventually Dachau, where they were liberated in 1945/

Hull of the Flying Boat being towed to the harbor, 1946. Over a six day period, the 220-foot hull and the 320-foot wing journeyed 28-miles over land to the harbor for assembly.

Highway sign is being readied at the Beatty Auto Court: photographic print

Description

From the Nye County, Nevada Photograph Collection (PH-00221) -- Series III. Beatty, Nevada -- Subseries III.B. Lisle Family. The sign was painted by Chloe Lisle's stepfather and was placed 30 miles down the highway toward Las Vegas, in the vicinity of Lathrop Wells, Nevada. The sign says, "30 MILES TO BEATTY THE NEVADA GATEWAY TO DEATH VALLEY [NOT LEGIBLE]. It then names off many of the businesses in Beatty such as hotels, garages, clubs, and cafes. This picture is particularly valuable because it provides a listing of many of the businesses located in Beatty at the time.
