The William Mors Audiovisual Collection (approximately 1989-2001) contains material created by William Mors Productions and the Las Vegas History Foundation. Subjects include Hoover Dam, entertainment in Las Vegas, Liberace, and the history of Las Vegas. The collection consists of vhs tapes, U-Matic tapes, betamax, and other formats and are originals, masters, edited masters, clips, and final production tapes.
The UNLV Libraries Collection of Spanish Broadsides (approximately 1747-1930) consists of gaming-related broadsides published in Spain and Mexico. The documents are proclamations regarding the legality of gambling, owning and operating gaming houses. Many of the documents are signed or decreed by José María de Tornel y Mendívil, a 19th-century Mexican politician. The collection also includes examples of printed games from the early 20th century.
The collection dates from 1942 to 1986 and contains a scrapbook and other materials related to the Nevada Biltmore built by Robert Brooks in Las Vegas, Nevada. The scrapbook includes photographs of the resort and newspaper clippings. It also contains some materials from the Seven Seas restaurant owned by Brooks in Hollywood, California. The collection includes newspaper clippings related to Las Vegas gaming and politics, some photographs of Bob Brooks and his wife Jewel at social events in Las Vegas, and a Biltmore menu and stationary.
The Nevada Wildlife Bulletin Collection contains an incomplete run of bulletins that were published monthly in Reno, Nevada by the Nevada Fish and Game Commission from 1960 to 1965. The Nevada Wildlife Bulletin covered activities of fishing and hunting throughout the state of Nevada.
The Harold Minsky Photograph Collection (1957-1977) contains photographic prints, negatives, and slides collected by Las Vegas burlesque show developer Harold Minsky. Subjects include performers in costume, showgirls, comedians, advertisements for shows, performances, and some of the venues at which Minsky's shows were held, including the Thunderbird Hotel and Casino, the Aladdin Hotel and Casino, and the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Jean Hertzman Menu Collection (1970s-2000s) consists primarily of menus from Las Vegas, Nevada restaurants including several from casinos that are no longer in operation such as the Silver Slipper, the Thunderbird, and the Sahara. The collection also includes international menus, catering information for various Las Vegas casinos, a Los Angeles, California menu guidebook, and a corporate information packet for MGM Resorts International.
The Flamingo Hilton Photograph Collection (1980-1991) contains photographic prints and slides of the Flamingo Hotel and later the Flamingo Hilton property in Las Vegas, Nevada. Images depict the exterior, swimming pool, and restaurant from approximately 1947 and interiors of the Third Tower rooms from the 1990s. The collection also contains two illustrations by Rissman and Rissman Associates, Ltd. of Flamingo properties designed for Laughlin and Reno, Nevada.
The Dan Lovil Audiovisual Collection (approximately 1970-2000) contains examples of commercial production work created by Dan Lovil who was a video tape operator in the televisions production industry in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection includes examples of Lovil's work on commercials for local businesses such as Christensen Jewelers and Discount Furniture Mart as well as directing and editing Las Vegas City Council, County Commission meetings.
The Erle A. Taylor Photograph Collection (1959-1977) consists of photographic prints, slides, and negatives pertaining primarily to aviation in Nevada. The collection includes images of the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, McCarran International Airport, vintage airplanes, air shows, and assorted events and people, including Richard M. Nixon, Gerald Ford, Betty Ford, and Jack Nicklaus. Erle A. Taylor served as the aviation director for Clark County, Nevada throughout the 1970s.
