Materials contain management and operational control procedure manuals, reports, statistics, pamphlets, informational packets, and newspaper articles about gaming facilities and corporations collected by Gary W. Royer for consulting purposes in his role as a gaming consultant and President of Casino Control Corporation (CCC) (1975-2000). Materials are primarily comprised of management and operation control procedure manuals and research files about various gaming facilities in Nevada. Also included is data compiled by Royer that include company profiles, financial data, type of gaming conducted on premises, notes, and record of owners and key employees.

Marshall L. Wright Collection on the Riviera Hotel

Abstract

The Marshall L. Wright Collection on the Riviera Hotel (1944-1956) consists of a disassembled scrapbook, a small amount of newspaper clippings, and correspondence from Marshall L. Wright. He served as the general manager of the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada beginning in 1954 and remained in the role through the hotel’s opening on April 20, 1955. By late 1955, he moved to a similar role at the Flamingo Las Vegas. Materials document the opening of the Riviera including black-and-white photographs of the construction of the hotel, press kits, brochures, and other promotional material. The collection includes a small amount of promotional material from the Flamingo.

Description

Interview with Alice Key conducted by Claytee D. White on February 17, 1997. Dancer, writer, and community activist, Key served as Deputy Labor Commissioner for the State of Nevada and leader of the NAACP in Las Vegas. As a newspaper reporter, she exposed the separation of blood plasma according to race in World War II. With Bob Bailey, Key created the first all-black television show in the nation and a radio program, interviewing black entertainers in a talk-show format.

Description

From the David Rea Collection of Howard Hughes Publicity Photographs (PH-00400). This collection is comprised of publicity photographs of Howard Hughes and his aircrafts, from approximately the 1940s to the 1950s, that were compiled by David Rea, former pilot for Hughes Aircraft Company. This collection also includes clippings and technical drawings of Hughes aircrafts. Note: Newspaper clippings were not digitized, but are available in the reading room. All digital objects from this collection are part of a photographic album.
