Howard Booth Papers

Abstract

The Howard Booth Papers are comprised of the personal papers of environmental activist Howard Booth from 1964 to 2017. The collection includes information about Booth's efforts to help turn Red Rock Canyon into a National Conservation Area. Booth was a member of multiple conservation organizations and the collection includes meeting minutes and newsletters from the Toiyabe chapter of the Sierra Club. The collection also contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, official reports, newsletters, and meeting minutes collected by Booth from various environmental organizations. The papers also include numerous photographic slides with handwritten captions Booth took of Red Rock and the surrounding area from the early 1980s to 2000s.

Charles J. Hirsch Papers

Abstract

The Charles J. Hirsch Papers (1952-1987) contain gaming reports and net-recovery percentages from the Golden Nugget Casino from 1952 to 1967, the Sands Hotel and Casino in 1965 and 1975, the Landmark Hotel and Casino in 1975 to 1976, and the New Frontier Hotel and Casino in 1973 to 1975. Also included are American Society for Quality Control (ASQC) conference materials, speeches given by Hirsch, correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, and surveys.

A portrait of Cliff Segerblom, circa 1950s-1970s. On back of the photo a newspaper article reads, "Paintings of Cliff Segerblom, below, will be on exhibit Sunday from 2 to 9 PM, in the Trophy Room of the Hotel Last Frontier. At left is a pastel "Thatched Hut, Panama" one of many done by the artists while in Panama and, right is an oil "Afternoon in Nelson". Both will be included in the show."

Abstract

The Patricia Craig Papers (approximately 1941-1989) contain photographs from Las Vegas, Nevada dancer and showgirl Patricia (Pat) Craig. The collection includes early photographs of her family, Craig as a young ballet dancer, and her high school diploma. The majority of the photographs of are Craig in costume on stage, candid photographs of her at home, and professional modeling shots. There are a small amount of newspaper clippings and magazines regarding Craig's appearances in Las Vegas shows, and her diploma from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Chip Mosher Literary Papers

Abstract

The Chip Mosher Literary Papers (approximately 2005 to 2018) contain copies of mainly short stories written by Las Vegas, Nevada educator, poet, author, and newspaper columnist, Charles Jon "Chip" Mosher. The materials include examples of Mosher's fiction and a copy of The Anarchy of Memories: short fiction featuring Las Vegas icons which includes a chapter written by Mosher entitled "Memories of a Modern Woman in the Modern World." Also included is a copy of America, Please!, an audio disc which contains spoken word poetry and one science fiction short story authored by Mosher. Fraternal Order of Eagles, Las Vegas Chapter Records

Abstract

The Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.), Las Vegas Chapter Records (1906-2001) consist primarily of scrapbooks, attendance and meeting minute record books, correspondence, and an accounting ledger from F.O.E. Aerie #1213 and its associated Women’s Auxiliary and Retired Eagles Activities Club (REAC) located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The scrapbooks contain newspaper articles, photographs, memorandums, and state and national F.O.E. convention information. The collection also contains REAC secretary documents including the club charter, constitution, and bylaws. The F.O.E. is an international non-profit fraternal organization.

The Kathryn Howell Papers on Civic Engagement in Nevada (1960-2002) contain newspaper articles, correspondence, newsletters, photographs, and personal writings of Kathryn Howell, a teacher, activist, and lobbyist in Southern Nevada. The collection also includes memorabilia from the election of President John F. Kennedy and the 1964 Nevada Centennial celebration, as well as a photograph and letter from former Nevada governor and U.S. senator, Richard H. Bryan.

Cynthia Cunningham Papers

The Cynthia Cunningham Papers date from 1970 to 1979 and document Cunningham's career as an English instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and as a member of the Nevada State of Board of Education. Included are Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) materials, audio tapes, posters, newspaper clippings, survey results, and reports that explore the issue of gender bias in schools. Materials on the Health Systems Agency contain organization by-laws, memberships, agendas, minutes, correspondence, and publications.
