Abstract
The William S. Park Photograph Collection (approximately 1870-1960) consists of black-and-white photographic prints and negatives of the families of William S. Park, John S. Park, and John William Park, as well as photographs of the Thomas children, half-siblings of John William Park's daughter Virginia. The majority of the images show locations in Las Vegas, Nevada with a smaller number taken in Kentucky, Oklahoma, Colorado, and California. Also included are three photograph albums of William S. and John William Park as children.

Date stamped on back of photo: April 3, 1947. Transcribed from attached press release: "HUGHES FLIES DUPLICATE OF CRASH PLANE CULVER CITY, Calif., April 5 -- Howard Hughes, famed flier-industrialist, today test-piloted the plane pictured here, a duplicate of the XF-11 photo-reconnaissance ship which he nearly lost his life in an accident last July 7. He designed and built the plane for the Army Air forces in conjunction with the Air Materiel Command engineers. He has recovered from the injuries sustained last year when the freak propeller trouble dashed the original XF-11 to earth. As usual, he today took personal responsibility for the first test flight of the new plane." The actual flying date is April 4, 1947.

Description
This photograph has four images. The first one (0272_0104) reads, "Union [Pacific] Station sitting at the end of Fremont St. West - A beautiful promenade lost forever in oblivion." The second one (0272_0105) shows the Clark County Court House. The handwritten inscription reads "Hireing hall (slave market) for dam, was just across the street. Men waiting for a chance to be hired, would gather on court house lawn, under the shade of trees - No 'Keep of the grass' here, as they were in my town. Gave me a feeling of doing something wrong when I walked on the grass." The third image (0272_0106) has the caption of "'Death Valley Scotty's' Castle." The fourth one (0272_0107) depicts the historic 20-mule team borax wagons, at Death Valley near Las Vegas.
