Two women (possibly Mrs. Owen Phaff and her mother) stand in front of San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad Company locomotive number 3649 in Las Vegas, approximate date 1912.
Two unidentified women holding up a Cowpens flag, a predecssor of the U.S. flag, created circa 1781. The flag has red and white stripes and a single star inside a circle of 12 stars on the blue field. It is the same flag as featured in the iconic painting "The Sprit of '76" by Archibald MacNeal Willard. The women are preparing for the U.S. bicentennial celebration at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
