Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: This first of two rallies based at the Center was called to protest passage of California's anti-same-sex marriage legislation, Proposition 8, in early November 2008. For details of the two rallies see Dennis McBride journal entries November 16, November 23, and December 21, 2008. McBride's thumb is wrapped from an accident he had the morning of November 15, 2008 when he severed his tendon on a broken wine glass. From the Dennis McBride Photograph Collection (PH-00263) -- LGBTQ+ events and organizations in Las Vegas, Nevada -- Digital images file. Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: Sevcik, et. Al. vs Sandoval was the court case which led in part to overturning Nevada's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. On April 10, 2012 the Lambda Legal Defense Fund filed a lawsuit on behalf of eight Nevada same-sex couples; the rally depicted in these photographs was called at the Center to celebrate the filing.
